There are several options available for those in need. Please take the time to look through the criteria of each option below and select the one that suits you best.

Brush with Kindness

Help homeowners with improvements, repairs, and accessibility on the exterior of their homes.


  • How does it work?

    A Brush with Kindness is a partnership program with an existing homeowner. In the partnership, Riverbend provides materials, labor and supervision of work and all work is completed by Riverbend volunteers. 


  • Example Projects

    Painting

    Repairing or reattaching guttering

    Trimming bushes

    Raking leaves and lawn debris

    Weatherization

  • Cost

    In return, the homeowner is responsible for a small monetary contribution towards the total cost of the project and contributes ‘sweat equity towards their project.


  • Program Requirements

    Homeowner must: 


    Own and occupy the home

    Have current homeowner’s insurance

    Be up-to-date on property taxes

    Fall within 30–80% of area median income (AMI)

    Pay 10–25% cost sharing before work begins

    Partner with Riverbend Habitat for Humanity (RHfH) by providing sweat equity

    Agree to MOU with RHfH

Critical Home Repair


Critical Home Repair projects include critical needs for safety, accessibility, and code compliance. 


  • Example Projects

    Roof repair

    Door or window repair

    Larger-scale exterior projects like

    Patching siding

    Repairing porch, steps, soffit

    Adding or repairing sidewalks

    HVAC

  • Program Requirements

    Homeowner must:


    Own and occupy the home

    Have current homeowner’s insurance

Aging in Place

The Aging in Place program addresses projects that will allow seniors to remain living independently in their own homes. 


  • Example Projects

    Adding an exterior ramp

    Installing grab bars

    Repairing or replacing flooring

    Widening doorways

    Improving bath access

    Decluttering

    Moving furniture

    HVAC

  • Project Requirements

    Be 62 or older

    Own and occupy the home

    Have current homeowner’s insurance

    Be up-to-date on property taxes

    Fall within 30–80% of area median income (AMI)

    Pay 10–25% cost sharing before work begins

    Partner with Riverbend Habitat for Humanity (RHfH) by providing sweat equity

    Agree to MOU with RHfH
