MEET OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS

ALEX GEHRING

PRESIDENT

“I joined the board during the summer of 2013. I wanted to be able to help citizens of Atchison find affordable housing and also be in the know of future builds and repairs so I could assist. To date, my favorite project was the Thrivent Repairs we did back in 2015 on Mound Street. I worked alongside some students from Benedictine College to do some exterior painting, remove debris and clean up some brush for a homeowner. I’m so thankful our community has our local Riverbend affiliate to help see our mission through.”

MALLORY SECKMAN

VICE PRESIDENT

SHERRY SWENDSON

SECRETARY

“I first got involved in the 90’s with the Family Selection Committee and enjoyed visiting with the public and being able to recommend families that were a great match for a home. Several years ago, I was asked to sit on the Board and have enjoyed helping families. I really like helping families in need of a little help.”

KENT WOHLGEMUTH

TREASURER

SISTER JUDITH SUTERA

TREASURER

“I’m a Benedictine sister at Mount St. Scholastica in Atchison and we’ve been serving the Atchison community for more than 150 years. My academic background includes social work and psychology training so helping others has always been a part of my life. I also spent many years in out monastery’s maintenance department and I love all things construction. Now I’m in an administrative office job so, when I was invited to be on the Habitat board, I jumped at the opportunity. To be part of Habitat for Humanity is to help local families to home ownership, which will improve not only their economic situation but their self-esteem and hope in their future.”

ETHAN HAUSMANN

TREASURER

“I have been on the RHFH Board since 2016. RHFH has had an important and positive impact in the Atchison community for many years, and I am grateful for the opportunity to help continue our mission. I really enjoyed being a part of the Division Street property rehab – it was a prime example of how RHFH can create opportunities for local families that wouldn’t otherwise exist.”

SUSAN MYERS

TREASURER

“I have been involved with Habitat for 9 years. My favorite project was the building of a home in South Atchison. I loved building a home for a mom and her son.”
